Our Pastor
Michael Edwards is the pastor of Good News Lutheran Brethren Church.
He was born in Lindsborg, Kansas, but raised right here in
McAlisterville. After working 20 years in various leadership and
human resources positions for the book and music retail industry, he
accepted the call at Good News. He has been married to Christy (Meiser)
Edwards for 20 years and is the father of Gabriel and Margaret. His
post-secondary education took place in the Biblical studies programs
at Messiah College and Moody Bible Institute of which he is a
graduate.
A note from Pastor Edwards:
More than once I've been asked the following question about Good
News Church. “So, are you more Lutheran or Brethren?” The answer is
that we are not a blend of two denominations, but rather part of the
Church of the Lutheran Brethren (www.clba.org),
based in Fergus Falls, MN with congregations throughout the world.
Good News is one of three Lutheran Brethren congregations in
Pennsylvania. Theologically, we are Lutheran but unlike many
Lutherans, our worship style is informal rather than liturgical.
At Good News, we desire to see you trust Jesus Christ for your
salvation. We are saved by God's grace alone through faith in Christ
alone. The Bible is central to all that we do as we believe that it
is the Word of God himself and, thus, free from error and
authoritative in our lives. As we encounter Jesus in a personal way
and are changed by His Word, we grow in relationship with Him and
with each other. We worship together, bear the burdens of one
another and share the Good News of Christ in the world.
